I've always wanted to own my own business. Let me tell you why.
I've worked for so many companies throughout the years, business of all shapes and sizes. My takeaway after more than decade of climbing the corporate ladder? You and I are just numbers.
Now, marketing has taught me that I'm not supposed to write in a negative tone, but just bear with me for a quick story.
I just started a job. My manager who hired me was excited, as his wife was planning to have a baby in the next month or so. After a couple of months of training me and 1 week before his PTO, the company let him go. This was the moment I realized that businesses don't give a shit. This was the moment I realized that I needed to start my own business.
So that's what I did.
I started Better Clothing Company and decided to make a couple of promises.
-
Humanity comes first: I decided that Better would always pick the path that helped the most amount of people possible. What does that mean? We promise we will never use AI. We work with factories that have real humans cutting and sewing your products. We work with artists and people to bring you the best possible product possible.
-
Salary caps: I want to make money. But I don't need that much money. We've set internal salary caps for upper level management. While that's only 2 people right now and we're actually not making any money, we promise that any extra income won't equate to a purchase of yacht, but go towards hiring more people and providing for our communities.
- Next Generation: Every business decision we make will be made while asking the question "how will this help the next generation"? We take the idea of "leaving it better than we found it" very seriously.
You see, we want to be a Better company. We want to do Better. We want to make Better quality clothing. We want to flip fast fashion on its head and prove to the world that small businesses like ours can truly succeed.
So give us a chance. Buy from us so that we can do our part in making this world a Better Place.
